Clean Splash steam cleans carpet and rugs across Williamstown — period homes and terraces, the newer waterfront apartments, and holiday and short-stay rentals through the heritage precinct.
Wool is the difference here
Williamstown has a lot of older housing, and older housing means wool. Wool carpet and wool rugs are not the same job as modern synthetic and treating them the same way causes real damage: shrinkage, browning as natural dyes migrate, and a texture change that does not come back.
Wool wants lower water temperature, wool-safe chemistry, careful moisture control and proper drying. It takes longer and it costs a little more. Anyone quoting you the same flat rate for wool and synthetic without asking which you have is not planning to treat them differently, and that is worth knowing before they arrive.
Rugs are usually the valuable item
Persian, Turkish and other hand-knotted rugs are common in the period homes here and they are frequently the most valuable soft furnishing in the house. Natural dyes can bleed, fringes need separate handling, and drying flat matters. We will tell you honestly if a rug is better sent for specialist off-site immersion cleaning than cleaned in place — some are, and pretending otherwise is how rugs get ruined.
Salt, sand and older carpet
Proximity to the bay works against carpet twice over. Sand walked in from the beach settles at the base of the pile where a domestic vacuum cannot reach, and it is abrasive, so it cuts fibres from underneath. Salt-laden air keeps carpet slightly damp, which holds soil. Hot-water extraction pulls both out of the pile base, which is why a periodic professional clean is worth more near the water than it is inland.
Short-stay and holiday rentals
Williamstown has a substantial short-stay market and those properties turn over constantly, with carpet taking guest traffic in shoes far more than a family home does. A quarterly clean generally keeps a short-stay property presentable at a much lower total cost than the restorative clean it needs after a year of neglect. We can work around a changeover schedule and we are open seven days.
Access and parking
Most Williamstown homes have street or driveway access within hose reach, so we can use truck-mounted extraction — more heat, more suction, faster drying. In the waterfront apartment buildings we bring a portable hot-water extraction unit up in the lift instead. Nelson Place and the surrounding streets are metered and time-limited, so let us know if there are parking restrictions at your address.
Insurance and checks
We carry $20 million public liability insurance and every technician is police checked — worth knowing when you are handing over keys to a holiday rental or an empty property. No lock-in contracts and no call-out surprises.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my carpet is wool?
Age is the best clue — carpet in a period home is often wool or a wool blend. If you are unsure, we will check before starting and adjust the method accordingly.
How long does drying take?
Two to four hours for synthetic with truck-mounted extraction. Wool takes longer and needs air movement; allow most of a day before heavy use.
Can you clean couches and mattresses too?
Yes — upholstery and mattress cleaning in the same booking saves a second call-out fee.
