Clean Splash cleans Docklands retail — the ground-floor tenancies along Collins Street and Bourke Street, the food and fashion tenancies at The District, and the harbourside cafes and restaurants at NewQuay and Victoria Harbour. We work before opening or after close, so nothing happens in front of your customers.
Retail here trades on two different clocks
Docklands retail is unusual because it serves two populations that barely overlap. Weekday trade is office workers on a tight lunch window and after-work crowd. Weekend trade is families and visitors at The District and along the waterfront promenades. A cleaning schedule built for one will fail the other.
Practically, that means the deep work has to land where your quiet period actually is, and for a lot of Docklands tenancies that is Sunday night or Monday morning rather than the traditional Friday close. We build the schedule around your trading pattern, not a standard weekly slot.
What matters most in a retail clean
- Glass shopfronts and entry doors. The most visible surface you own and the one that shows salt spray and finger marks fastest — and on the waterfront, salt spray is a genuine factor rather than a talking point. Frames and tracks included, not just the glass.
- Entry matting and the first three metres. Docklands has a lot of exposed walkway between the tram stop and your door. Grit tracks in and grinds into flooring, which is what makes a floor look tired years early.
- Floors by type. Polished concrete, timber, vinyl and tile all want different treatment. Getting this wrong is expensive: the wrong pad or chemical on a sealed floor strips it.
- Back of house and food prep. Degreasing, splashbacks, cool room seals, floor waste and drains. This is the part that fails a council inspection, not the shopfront.
- Fitting rooms and customer touch points. Mirrors, seating, handles, EFTPOS terminals and counters.
- Waste. Retail generates high cardboard and food volumes. We break down and sort to the building streams so your bin bay is not the reason you get a strata notice.
Cleaning around trading hours
Most Docklands retail tenancies run a pre-open clean before 9am or a post-close clean after 6pm, with hospitality typically going later. Where a tenancy trades seven days, we usually split the scope: a short daily presentation clean plus one longer weekly detail visit that covers the floor treatment, glass detail and back of house. That is generally cheaper than a uniform daily scope and it keeps the shopfront looking better.
Food premises and compliance
If you handle food, the clean has to hold up to inspection rather than just look good. We work to a written site checklist covering prep surfaces, splashbacks, floor waste, drains, cool room seals and under-bench areas, with a quality check before we leave. Records of what was cleaned and when are available if you need them for your food safety program.
Frequently asked questions
Can you clean before we open?
Yes. Pre-open is our most common retail slot in Docklands. Our cleaners hold their own building access credentials so you do not need to send someone in early to unlock.
Do you clean shopfront glass externally?
Yes, ground-level external glass is part of a standard retail scope. Anything above reach height is quoted separately — see commercial window cleaning.
We are a cafe with a grease problem. Can you help?
Yes. Degreasing back of house is a periodic scope item rather than part of the daily clean, usually monthly, and it is worth doing before it builds up rather than after.
Do you clean the carpet in a retail fit-out?
Yes — see carpet steam cleaning in Docklands, which covers both retail and office fit-outs.
Insurance, checks and contracts
We carry $20 million public liability insurance, and every cleaner who attends your site is police checked. There are no lock-in contracts — if the service slips you are not tied to it, which is the fastest way to keep a cleaning contractor honest. A certificate of currency is available on request for your building manager or procurement team.
